Much of the private land near Edmonton that River’s Edge Ultra will be held on was once owned by the Grandfather of Sarah Wallace who runs Olive Tree Projects in Haiti, the organization that the race is raising money for. There is not a lot of organized running in Haiti but it has some amazing terrain that provides for beautiful and challenging trail running. Recently, in the town of Jacmel, a race called the River Bank 20km was held and next year a stage race from Port au Prince across the mountains to the coast is planned for February.
